Baseball Tournaments
The Searcy A&P Commission recognizes the value of local baseball tournaments and actively supports them. The support of the A&P Commission has allowed tournament organizers to attract more interest in the tournaments by providing the funds to secure the necessary equipment, recruit qualified umpires, add unique amenities, and create an overall positive experience for those who attend. While the size of the tournaments varies, some have been as large as nearly 70 teams. The league provided us with the following stats:
Approximately 17% of the teams stay in local hotels
Families eat on average three times in local restaurants
Each team spends an average of $3,000 in Searcy
It’s estimated that these tournaments inject upwards of $200,000 in the Searcy economy
In 2022 Searcy hosted seven tournaments that averaged 24 teams, in 2023 we have hosted four tournaments with an average of 56 teams at each tournament.
The equipment that has been purchased for the tournaments is also used for the local city league, which consists of more than 70 teams, and serves about 750 kids in the spring and 450 in the fall.
